Automations in Foreman: how it works
The same follow-up, the same task, the same heads-up to the office: routine steps are what automations are for. In Foreman an automation has a trigger and a list of steps, and once it's switched on it runs without anyone remembering to do it.
Step 1
Choose a trigger
Run it manually, on a schedule, when a task is created, or when something posts to its webhook URL. Events like an overdue task or an email arriving can trigger it too.
Step 2
Add the steps
Steps include sending a notification or email, creating or assigning a task, posting to Slack, calling a Zapier webhook, running an AI prompt, or checking a condition.
Step 3
Test it with Run Now
Run Now fires the automation straight away, whatever its trigger, and the run appears in Recent runs so you can see what happened.
Step 4
Leave the routine to it
Quote chasing, overdue nudges and task follow-ups that Foreman already handles are listed alongside your own automations.
Automations: common questions
Can automations connect to other apps?
Yes. Automations can call a Zapier webhook or post to Slack, and a webhook trigger lets another app start one.
Can I switch an automation off without deleting it?
Yes. Each automation has an Enabled setting, and you can delete it from its details when it's no longer needed.
Is this different from reminders?
Reminders send messages from rules and templates. Automations run multi-step workflows. Reminder rules that come from automations appear on the Reminders page too.
